Rhayader Youth Motocross Club held a Trophy meeting on Sunday 25th May 2008 at their Moelfre track with very wet conditions making the track very slippery indeed, but the riders were certainly not deterred!

Sending out the AMX class first, with Multi World Enduro Champion Paul Edmondson on the gate (with his short legs) it was really exciting to watch! Fast Eddy took home the two wins of the day with great ease, as his younger brother Stanley (Lee) settled for two fantastic seconds as he took some very quick lines! Battling behind the front two were Gethin Price, ‘Cool’ Chris Morris and local rider Jonathan Evans showing great speed and control, with Gethin pushing Stanley all the way in the second race. Wyn ‘Sexy’ Hope had a strong second race after just getting the better of Andrew Little. Ever-loyal Derry Knox (who travels for four hours to ride the RYMX events) certainly deserved his medal and looked great in the wet as he pushed himself.  First time rider Ryan Jones also had a good ride out on the tricky track!

The Senior class was anybody’s as positions changed constantly throughout the races! With awesome Rhys Jones taking two well-deserved wins with such style and determination, being pushed all the way by Tom Nicholls who put in a real fight. Shaun Buchan loved the wet conditions as he took second in the first race, while Ryan Davies had a fantastic third! Jordan Eynon and Spencer Eve battled hard in both races putting in a great days work! Dean Plumstead showed great confidence with Julian Eckley and Shaun Probert pushed Dean in the second race.

The Inter-Open class had the largest line-up with Luke Morgan coming out on top with a superb display in the difficult conditions taking a well-deserved first position overall after Ryan Waters pushed Luke all the way in the first race and took the chequered flag with an outstanding race!  Will Nicholls and Adam Morris really enjoyed the track and never gave up - after some amazing battles they both meant business!! Billy ‘Bad Boy’ Johnson came back to form with a good consistent ride taking a brilliant fifth place overall. The ‘RYMXC’ girls Hannah Hope and Jody Amner both rose to the challenge with a close finish while Shane Slatcher had strong first race.

Ciran Williams was the king in the Inter-85 small wheel class and proved he can ride in all conditions with an absolutely incredible ride making it look effortless! Well, the Nicholls family were very strong in all classes as Ben Nicholls didn’t hang around taking second overall, with local boy Hywel Mills putting on the pressure and pushing Ben to the limit, finishing in a fantastic third and Josh Ford in a very strong fourth. Fifth overall went to ever-improving Danny Morris who has great positioning on the bike and always works hard in every race. Kieron Watkins and Owen Jones had some good battles, both having a good ride out on the slippery track.

The Juniors were out next with Jack ‘Fast Eddy’ Edmondson in a class of his own taking the win of the day and loving the wet! With Alex ‘bubba’ Walton and Luke ‘cool kid’ Craig finishing on joint points, with Bubba having a strong last race of the day taking second overall with cool kid Craig settling for a well-deserved third place, both showing great sportsmanship off the track.  ‘Birthday boy’ Kieron Mills had his best result to date with a brilliant fourth and showed great confidence. Kieron battled hard with fast boy Huw Nicholls who pulled out all the stops with a great result! It was ‘girl power’ with Adelaide Watkins and Kyra Pickersgill showing the boys how it should be done!! Ever-improving Callum Evans showed great courage and determination putting in a hard day’s work, while Connor Friel had his first ever ride in the most testing conditions proving he doesn’t give up easily with a brilliant effort.

It was difficult for the Autos in the conditions but that didn’t stop the Brooklyn ‘The Brookster’ Evans who gripped to the track well, finishing in first overall. Dan Troughtan took home a good second place, while Hannah Pickersgill had a great third overall after sorting out the boys! Ryan ‘Rocket’ Rowlands found the conditions quite tricky as he finished in fourth overall but never gave up. Harry Edmondson proved he loves the mud taking a strong fifth position. Ieuan Roberts and Ben Evans battled it out with great style! Jamie ‘The Javelin’ Evans and Iwan Mills put in a great effort - all the Autos pushing the boundaries and were definitely keeping all mums and dads on their toes!!!

Thank you to all the riders, parents and especially the marshals who all got soaked through!! But its good fun!! The lap scoring shed was nice and dry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
